PUSH (UK) - Push (unreleased) (1987)

Now we're talking seriously... this is a SERIOUS AOR GEM.
Yes, I'm writing with CAPITALS, because it is incredible that this awesome collection of songs remain unreleased.
Unknown and marvelous UK band from Birmingham, typical english sound, full of keyboards, strong guitars and... SUPERB SONGWRITING!
In the vein of MORITZ, ALLIED NATION, SHY, PEROUX, AOK ... but even better!

No fillers, all KILLERS.
Some scandi AOR influences (particularly the outstanding choruses), hooks galore and great melodies.
ALL tracks are excellent, but my absolute pick is "The Miracle Of Love"... WOW.
This song should be a hit! One of the best pure AOR tunes I've ever heard.
If you have more band's info or I am incorrect (not sure of the recording year, seems from different sessions), please drop a line in Comments.

Splendid soundfiles, 'remastered' by myself, I've also designed the cover artwork.
Trust me, YOU MUST HAVE THIS UNRELEASED ALBUM.
With CAPITALS, yes... : HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

01 - Burning Desire
02 - All I Can Give
03 - Man On The Other Side
04 - Giving It All Away

06 - Voices Calling

08 - Red Light
09 - Strange World
10 - I Believe You
11 - Stand Up And Fight

Sounded too good to pass up going by your description and it was.
An injustice indeed that this never got an official release.
Not the superlative cross of Atlantic, early FM, Walk The Wire and God knows who else i was expecting after reading your rave review, but a splendid bunch of tunes nevertheless.
Great catchy sound with a slightly poppy feel that gives it an original touch, a fine lead vocalist and more than enough keys to satisfy even the most hopeless addicts of the instrument like myself.
I should point out though that the second half of the track listing is not as strong as the first, and most of the songs lack a certain something that would make them truly memorable.
My choice for standout cut is the same as Camelblue's, no. 5.
Not one of the best AOR tunes i've ever heard (CB's getting a little carried away there), but pretty damn good.
Love the improvised front cover design, which looks good enough to be actual retail copy artwork.
Slight blemish: A noteworthy glitch at the 25 second mark in track no. 9, 'Strange World'.
Any chance we can get this fixed?

Hi troy. The carried away talking... ;P
Nope, the tape seems to be damaged at that point (track 9). Also track 7 was pretty bad, but my fix worked better there.
Be careful, repeated listens of these tunes creates addiction. I can't stop playing them regulary...

What can I say other than I totally agree, playing it with addiction for the third time in a row now :)
Marvellous AOR GEM Camelblue, I totally love it and it´s criminal that this never got a proper release, time to contact Bruce at AOR-FM :)
Must be one of the top british AOR albums ever...right up my alley.
Many thx for this one.

@Camelblue:
As long as you're complaining to Bruce at AOR-FM about Push never coming to shove, ask him when he's expecting to release the Eyes (ft. James Christian) material.
Should be an awesome CD if it ever gets realized.

PS: If Homer's the captain, can i be the deckhand? I'd love to mop the floor with some people i know. ;)

Just wondering how did you get this CD if it was unrelased... it rocks btw..

apparently PUSH released quite a few CDs

troynew said...

Must be a different Push. This band Camel posted ain't no run of the mill glam posse.

@ troy: I was talking with a football team in mind...how 'bout a full back position? You can still mop the floor there...(I am seeing you laughing over your shoulder after your job is done: yellow card!...or red?)
I am not complaining to Bruce. homer64 did (and he's right) ;P

@ kamat: thanx for your tip. Not the same band. Those are the danish Push (a good band btw).

I hate American 'foot'ball, but for a modest 6 figures per month income i'd be willing to considering being a goalpost. (No more tax worries.)

Where the @#$%& did that extra 'ing' come from? Bloody typos.

Hi M8,

Thanks for the rarity. Got quite excited but a bit disappointed really, few hooks and forgettable choruses for me..

Hey Daz! Nice to read you.
I know...this isn't exactly match your tastes. Thanx for your sincerity...and your visit.

You are welcome aorroxx.
As mentioned in the post, no personnel listed, no info, nothing!
I can't believe there's no single line in any magazine, like Kerrrang, AOR Basement, etc. Seems to be the best keep secret recording...
